Ali & Ro.

The New Kid

by Alina on July 13, 2010

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

What? That’s not how this one starts? Alright, alright, let me try again.

Hi.

My name is Alina, but most people call me Ali (and yes, you can, too.) I’m here only because I’m not there anymore. (There, being Sanguine, my old and sorely missed blog.) Evidently  Google has some very, very serious hoops for you to… not so much jump through as launch yourself, when Nigerians hack your account. Two long years of loving mommy-blogging gone, doomed to remain in stasis on the internet because I just can’t prove to some massive corporation that I’m me.

Here’s hoping I can prove to be me here.

I know Christina in real life- (I think that’s ‘irl’ in the vernacular,) and have for some ten years, now. We’re connected along various networks and overlapping Venn diagrams of coworkers, classmates and best friends, and now we’ve been awarded the chance to let our children become friends, too.

My daughter Aurora (known colloquially as “Ro” and loudly as “Roary”) turns four this August and she is my reason for everything you will see me contribute to this blog. Most things I will be posting at first will be recycled from the time they spent at the now-hacked Sanguine, in hopes of finding a new audience to read my parentally induced drivel.

A warning, and I consider it fair- you might come to know me as the crunchy one, ’cause I am, more often than not, the green-minded dirty hippie reeking of patchouli and living in a tent city. (Okay, the patchouli and the tent city part, that’s only some weekends, but all will be revealed in time…)

I am glad to be here. That’s the moral of this sordid tale. I am glad to be here and I am prepared to take anything that comes as a result of it.

- Ali. (& Ro.)

Welcome Ali! It was nice meeting you this morning, I only wish we had more time to chat at that time. So sorry to hear about the Hackers. I have heard about this happening to more and more people that have Google blogs. Looking forward to getting to know you here and beyond.
